Chicken Soup For The Soul

I am not a big reader..but I do LOVE short stories. I love to read inspirational stories, especially at night before I drift off to sleep.
I have taken a big interest in Chicken Soup For The Soul books. The stories are so uplifting! I spent the day with my daughter going to thrift shops and some dollar stores. I happened upon some really good deals.
I found four Chicken Soup For The Soul books much to my delight!
I look forward to reading a couple of wonderful stories before the night ends.
The two bigger books I found at a thrift shop for two dollars each (can't beat that!)..the smaller books for only a dollar at the Dollar Tree store.
So glad I found these wonderful books tonight, and bless the person that passed them on so I could find them.

Goodwill treasures!

It is a beautiful day outside today in Florida!
I decided to take a trip to Goodwill. I always meet the most wonderful people while visiting there.
I am always on the lookout for Cornflower Blue Corningware, but didn't see any this time. I did however find some really good things!
I spotted this adorable old Raggedy Ann ceramic container. It is made by the
Bobbs-Merril Company. It is dated 1976. Absolutely perfect for our Raggedy Ann collection :)
I also purchased a really cute wooden shadow box. It is small in size, but I believe it will be just perfect for my thimble collection! :)
I started chatting with a lady while shopping, she was so sweet. I noticed that she had some great finds in her shopping cart too.
Right away I spotted the beautiful wooden frame in her basket!
I told her how nice it was, and that I like that sort of decor too.
She told me she decided she really didn't want it and handed it to me!

Before I walked out of Goodwill, there was a table with some odds and ends..I took a quick peek, and glad I did!
I also LOVE anything with Debbie Mumm designs, and was surprised to see what was sitting on the table. Debbie Mumm spreaders, one box with Santa's, the other box with Snowmen! I presently have the Snowman dishes, and Santa dessert plates for my holiday meals and these spreaders will fit in perfectly.

I think I did well, everything came to about 8 dollars. The spreaders being the most expensive items. They sold the frame to me for 29 cents!


It was a great day today, a very happy day. :)

Ornaments and finds

I finished off my PS Santa ornament. Used a pretty gold trimming for hanging. This will look nice on our new Christmas tree for this coming Christmas. Spent the morning running errands and stopped off at Goodwill to drop off more things that someone else might make use of. Of course I had to go inside! ;)
Yes, I found some treasures. I saw these two little Goebel angels, and even better, I found another piece to add to my cornflower blue collection of corningware!
The inside is scratched up quite a bit, but I don't mind as it won't really be seen when it is filled with food. :)
Slowly but surely I will have enough pieces to maybe consider myself having a complete set.
It is very chilly outside still, keep waiting on that warmer weather to arrive..

crochet for me

On a recent trip to Goodwill I found a really nice ball of yarn. It is an ecru color, and so very soft. The price was only a dollar, and well worth it!
I decided to make myself a nice warm fluffy scarf with it. I finished it up last night, but here is a picture of the WIP.
Can't pass up a great bargain like this, and I knew the potential of what I could do with that yarn!

It is still very cold here, plenty of snow on the ground. We never did go outside in it. It looks so very pretty though, covering the trees and everything is layered in a blanket of white.

Pin Cushion

Stitched up this freebie design today and made it into a pin cushion. I used 28 count evenweave with DMC thread numbers 3804 and 3021.
I used crushed walnut shells for the filling (just love that stuff!). It is supposed to sharpen your pins and needles as you use the pin cushion too!

I had the day off today and took a trip to Goodwill again...
I think I am their best customer!
We really need new everyday dishes, but I really like the old set from when we first got married. I found some last week of the same exact set, but they were all chipped except for one. I purchased that one plate for a dollar. I need to add to our set, being as we have broken some over the years. I like our old design called "Heartland" very much.
But! Today I meandered over to the dishes and kitchen section today and found a set of four dishes that were in tip top shape. I have a thing for the color blue (along with purple)..and I just couldn't pass these dishes up. They have a nice apple design on them. These dishes are called "Appletime" and were only a dollar each! I am sure we will get good use out of these dishes.
I like the fact that my everyday dishes will be mis-matched anyways..that's the country style right? :)


Although I keep bringing things to Goodwill to drop off I seem to be coming back home with more stuff...this is NOT good.
I had a plan, and I don't think it is working out as well as I thought.
I need to drop things off and NOT go inside..but oh! There are such treasures in that wonderful place!

I am so longing for the warmer weather. I am ready to plant flowers and to spend more time outside. I am looking forward to this summer!

I have started a collection of Corningware, The Cornflower Blue design. I only have three pieces , but it's a start! I love this old design..it is hard to find, but sometimes people do drop them off at Goodwill, I found a piece tonight!:
