I decided to take a little drive today and treat myself. I was headed over to a local stitch shop, then decided to stop off at one of my favorite Antique Shops on the way called Enchanted Antiques . Oh my! This shop is absolutely filled to the brim with the most gorgeous things! I couldn't wait to see what they had put out for the Fall/Halloween season. I was not disappointed, the shop was beautifully decorated once again!
I found two little things that I could not leave without. A little "Prim" (as in primitive!) doll..isn't she ADORABLE! I love the little stitched saying on her dress..a simple little "Be You". Sweet!
Then, as I meandered around..look at the little bag of itty bitty candy corn! Are they not adorable? I believe they are made out of some sort of resin and are painted and sanded for that time worn look
...I could not do too much shopping for I knew if I wanted to get to the stitch shop and then to the church for my daughter's arrival from school I was short on time. I was busy before this food shopping and having lunch with my wonderful son.
Then..I headed over to the stitch shop and picked up two magazines I have been wanting. Just Cross Stitch Halloween Collection and Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornaments issue for this year. I have to say, they are both fantastic! Most recently I had seen this adorable chart by Bent Creek titled "Quaker Moon". I had picked that up also.
It was a very good day! I cannot wait to decorate for the Fall season. I am thinking I am done with the hot humid weather that Florida brings. Some new things happening on the home front..but will have to wait a bit to mention what they will be. They are of the good sort of things though :)
I am presently working on a Lorri Birmingham Design that must get finished before the end of October. It is for a darling baby that will turn one soon. We are invited to the birthday and look forward to giving this sweet little Angel something to hang in her room......my progress so far:
Many color changes in Lorri B. Designs...but well worth the effort. The designs usually end up being beautiful!
This design is from this leaflet:
While I was out shopping with my son, we came across some interesting packs of chewing gum. I think this is new, I have never seen it before..we decided to try it out. WOW! Tastes just like eating apple pie. (hee hee!) This will be very good for my diet..by the way, I have lost 10 pounds so far! :)
I came home from my little outing and was surprised to find a treat in my mailbox as well! My sweet stitching friend Kerri sent me a Raggedy Ann pattern by Gloria and Pat Designs. Thank you Kerri!!
Well, that's about all for now. I am going to go do a little stitching for tonight and go through my new magazines..I cannot wait to look at all the beautiful new designs the pages hold!
Blessings to each and everyone of you!
Louise

Enchanted Antiques
I absolutely adore antique shops. It is so enjoyable to see all the old time treasures. I often wonder where each piece has been, and what has brought it to that particular shop at this time. I have come across many vintage finds, each piece I may purchase, adding to my collection of treasured keepsakes.
I often look for sewing notions, threads, scissors, boxes.
Each piece I am sure could tell a story if it could speak.
Scissors used by dressmakers, or needles a Mom may have used for her family, sewing up holes, or fancy embroidery work on pillowcases.
There is a couple of amazing antique shops I have visited recently in Florida.
The newest one is Enchanted Antiques
If you click on the link, you can take a tour of the store with pictures.
They were kind enough to let me take a couple of my own.
I love this new shop!
I found a couple of neat things that I could not leave the store without.
A pretty "Flower Frog" which I will use for my embroidery scissors, and some really neat old time wooden spools of threads. I love notions! (you can click on the pictures to see them even bigger in size)

Special day and a Vintage find!
I had the most wonderful day today!
I met with a girlfriend today. She surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and cute little daisy solar flower. Sweet housewarming gifts! :)
We decided to head on over to Bono's for lunch. If you live in Florida, you will know this is one of the best Barbeque restaurants to dine in. It is my favorite!
We laughed about old times and really enjoyed ourselves.

Our next stop was the Avonlea Antique Mall .
I absolutely could spend hours, upon many hours browsing all the wonderful Items and amazing trinkets in this store!
I have never seen so many vintage items jam packed into one place. It is an antique treasure trove.
A while back while visiting Florida I had spotted something that I really wanted to purchase, but at the time, I didn't. You know how that goes!
Well, I couldn't stop thinking about this item..and now that we have moved back to Florida, I decided to see if that item was still in the same spot I left it.
Surely enough, it was!
The vintage item I had fell in love with was an antique, 1920's cast iron Corn Bread Mold! It is so neat looking, I just had to get it!
Here it is:

As you can see by the imprint on the back, it is an authentic "Wagner Ware" Mold.
It is very heavy in weight, and well seasoned. It just needs some TLC with some cleaning up and it will be ready to use!
So excited about this find! :)
I have researched this item on the internet and very happy to say that I purchased it for half the price that it is worth. What a deal! ;)
Yes, this was a good day indeed :)
It is so wonderful to be living back in the state of Florida,
Have I told you how much I love it here?!
:)

Adventures of Raggedy Ann

While I was shopping with my husband on Saturday, we had visited some local antique shops downtown. I had seen the most beautiful vintage Raggedy Ann sitting in a little chair in this one shop. In my mind I wanted to purchase her, but knowing I had just purchased the framed needlework from the other store, I thought perhaps I should wait.
My husband knew I wanted her! She was the most beautiful Raggedy I had ever laid my eyes on. We had left that store and headed home at the end of that day.
I just could not forget that Raggedy, and the more I thought about her, I knew that my heart was wanting her even more.
I called the store the next day, with no answer..for the store was closed.
I wondered if "Annie" would still be there?
I was able to make the trip to the shop today, being as I was off from work this Monday. As I approached the door of the antique shop, there was a sign that the shop was closed due to a power outage!
The sign said that they would hopefully be able to open by 11am.
I had arrived at 10:30am. I thought perhaps I would just wait outside till the door would be unlocked.
I didn't know if I should peek or not inside the glass door..for if Raggedy Ann wasn't in there, I know my heart would be broken. I so wanted to see her still sitting there waiting for me!
I never felt so strongly about a certain doll like this one before.
There was something about her. I just knew she had to come home with me!
I approached the glass door, and peeked inside...
My heart filled with joy!
There she was, sitting on her little chair, so happy and just waiting..
I could just burst, "would that lady just open this door already"! I thought to myself..
Finally! The owner came and let me in...
What a nice lady she was (Her name was Connie)..although the electric was not on yet, she told me I could come in and look around. I told her what I was there for. She had told me that an antique dealer had brought in the Raggedy Ann doll, and they really don't get many Raggedy Ann dolls in the shop.
The owner let me take pictures of her shop too.
I purchased Annie and thanked the owner for her generosity.
Raggedy Ann is now in her new home and very much loved.
I have searched this very doll on the internet and have found out it is indeed a very old Annie. She is a Georgene doll from the early 1960's.
I don't think she could be any more loved than in this Raggedy Lovers home!
